Sotirios Stathakis, Ph.D., DABR, FAAPM
Dr. Stathakis, DABR, Ph.D. has received his PhD from the University of Patras, Greece in 2005. Before his PhD he obtained his Masters in Medical Physics from University of Aberdeen, UK and his BSc in Physics at the University of Waterloo, ON, Canada. Dr. Stathakis continued his training at the Fox Chase Cancer Center and in 2006 he joined the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio as an Assistant Professor. During his time at UTHSCSA Dr. Stathakis earned the title of Professor and served as the Associate Director of the Medical Physics Division. At the same time he served as the Chief Physicist at the South Texas VHA.
In January 2023, Dr. Stathakis, joined the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center as the Chief of Physics. His research interest include Patient specific quality assurance, Daily dose verification, Treatment planning techniques, Adaptive radiation therapy, Stereotactic body radiation therapy, Automation, standardization and workflow efficienc, etc. He has more than 120 peer reviewed publications and more than 400 abstracts submitted to national and international conferences.
